South Park High School
The recently completed South Park High School and a relatively new townhouse complex across the Catfish Run valley have added a lot of new impervious surface to the Catfish Run watershed in the form of new roads, building roofs and parking lots.
Impervious surface increases runoff and also lowers the groundwater level in the watershed. This can lead to decreased flow in streams during drought and low-flow periods. Best management practices can be utilized during design and construction to minimize the impact of development on water quality in Catfish Run.
